Caribbean Island Trip

I just got back from a fabulous vacation to the British Virgin Islands. There were seven of us (friends and family) on the trip. We rented one 4-wheel drive SUV, which was large enough for running around Tortola, but was packed to the headliner on arrival and departure days with all of us and everyone's bags. We had absolutely no room to spare driving to and from the West End ferry dock.

I packed one of my Canon DSLRs with the 24-70 lens and one small point and shoot. I got some great shots. I really wanted to stop the car and jump out and take pictures all the time but the roads on Tortola were extraordinarily steep and I was frequently riding in the third row seats so I just took in the scenery visually instead of digitally.

The beaches were so beautiful and uncrowded. The water was so azure. One day we went to the beaches at Cane Garden Bay and Brewer's Bay. The white sandy beaches and bays were just stunning. The waves were small and the water so clear. I was wading around in waist deep water taking pictures of people and the beaches.

About halfway through the trip my 77 mm circular polarizer got busted when my camera bag took a tumble. After that, I left my DSLR in the room or took my much smaller point and shoot with me instead.

I can't wait to go back. I have some great ideas for more pictures.
